basic questions

hi.....i'm a rookie @ boating.....and have some q's i'm sure any of you could answer. I have a '59 10hp johnson seahorse & alot of people keep asking me if it's green.....but it's white.....what's up with that? 2nd i can't figure out how to get my motor to stay in a locked upright position for going up slanted driveways & such...there doesn't seem to be any parts missing....is this just a feature my motor lacks?<br />also i was wonder what color the lubricant for the lower unit should be....it looks like a creamy color but someone told me it should look like oil...what's up with that? & finally.....where can i get a sheer pin for my motor w/o removing the one that is in there? thanks for any help....i'm very new to all of this.

Hi!<br /><br />This is a picture of a 1959 10 hp Johnson It's white just like yours.<br /><br />There is no lock for the tilted up position. Just two friction washers. Try to tighten the axle just a bit. <br /><br />The creamy colour is because you have some water in the oil. A leaking prop shaft sealing och the washers for the oil plug and oil level plug. Replace the plug washers first. Change the oil and check the oil again.<br /><br />The shear pin for the propeller? Your dealer will know what size you need.
