the main ones are gone u can see in the black circle run along boat .

the hull looks like it sufferd bad sealing of fiber glass as the mesh has voids for water to travel.
looks like i need to cut these strip out help identify the name please also can i seal the fiber glass i dont cut out with a good sand and resin..

First of all, let me welcome you to iboats. We've come to the best place for any help if you are going to rebuild this hull.

:welcome:

Secondly, If you decide to redo this boat, start asking questions about what to do next. And only YOU can make that decision.

Let me make a suggestion if you do have plans to rebuild it. You need to take tons of pictures from every angle you can think of and you should have taken tons of measurement before de-capping it as well. Once you removed the cap, the side can easily splay out of place and if you do any work on the hull, the cap may never fit back on again. So NOW is the time to correct that issue. Most take measurements from a center-line of the hull to each side from the transom to the bow and plot it on some computer program or even a piece of paper for future issues.Next you need to make some side supports to keep the hull in place as well for any work you plan to do. It has to stay in shape if you even want to re-cap it again. JMHO

So I am working on the boat going threw some pics here she is when i bought it she is a nice boat.
I put the cap back on the hull tonight for a short rest.

I will set up a
craddle for the boat
that will keep the hull ship shape safe .
Also I need the ablitly to take the cap on and of off for fitting practice and a bed for the cap to sleep with out back pain.

Jack of all trades master of none but if you stumble accross my page remember saftey first always wear protective equipment for the task at hand. Take your time be safe and thank you for any adivce

Today was a good day. I sourced used wood for the boat house/lift and wood to build hull supports off of original bunk trailer.
I soon will have control of easy removing and fitting the cap along way as things change and a tarp roof.
Time will tell will post pics when I finish this stage.

The previous owner was very smart and stood guard on the bad side of the transom.
I examine every inch accept a half inch of boat while being distracted I can't believe I missed a stress crack under the bad side of the transom .

I am loaded up to the gunnels of gutting work.

still working on supporting the hull and cap. I have the cap on a 2x4 I beam and allthread threw seat post with t 2x4 to anchor cleats and t to hand rail to help with the flex as well center console and a kicker across the floor on two chain hoist. I sourced all the wood for free to date paid 60.00 for 2nd chain hoist.

all long ribs front to back gunnel and transom and stringer need replacement.
I have been working on measurement and the order to replace things and seal what can be replaced and is solid.

Thank you for viewing and will continue to add.

I like to repair the boat if it doesn't work out at least I will have tried and enjoyed the boat in one way or another lol and I'm used to poison ivy so the itching is not going to be at issue which I can't wait for.

Looks like you have this thing figure out. Nice setup to pull the cap off. It always looks worst when you first get started. But push on and soon you will see how everything works out. ANd now you know exactl what will be in your rebuilt boat. And that usuall is tons better then original too.

As far as grinding itch goes, most suit up in a tyvek suit, gloves and goggles and even a good respirator. I used a 3M replaceable cartridge type respirator and it worked great. DON'T breath in those old fiberglass particles into your lungs. You want to be around to enjoy your newly rebuilt boat, don't you.

Ask questions and post those pictures. We will help you along the way with what and how to do things the easiest way...:thumb:

yes I will suit up i purchased all the protection tyvek and 3m cartridge both types prior to the pandemic.
I must admit I only used a paper n95 yesterday to clean off a alot of old fiber glass carpet glue with wire wheel and the hull has all the foam out and was lucky it had a good seal.

the hull did turn out good for a ruff cleanup.
the stringers are mostly good as they where not covered just tab on but most damage is on the rear.

Well just remember, at this stage, if you think anything should be repaired or removed and replace, there is no better time. And I am sure by now you know you don't want to be going back into this hull again... So you are the only guide for knowing what you want and allow. But post those pictures. If there is anything these iboaters like is pictures...
