Bass Fishing from a Deep-V (Lund Rebel 1625 XL SS)?

Hello,

I am very close to purchasing a Lund Rebel 1625 and wanted to see if anyone who spends a majority of their time fishing for Largemouths can share their experience of fishing from a Deep-V. I like the idea of a multi-species boat so I have the ability to mix things up at time. The high sides might also be good to have when I have my kids out there with me. I used to have a fiberglass Nitro, but wanted to go with something lighter and easier to manage on my own this time around. Any input would be appreciated as I may be closing the deal this week.

Thx.

The times I've bass fished out of a deep V it was miserable. When structure fishing having the front half of the boat as a raised deck is a nice thing to have. Also want the rig to be as stable as possible when moving around in it so you don't accidentaly throw yourself out of it. To be honest with you for me a bass boat is easier to handle at the dock when it's windy because of the lower profile and heavier fiberglass hull. You can still get a bass boat that has deeper sides and still have good fishability for structure. Here's my friends old Stratos that's really deep and perfect for his daughter who's three now. Great rig for all species.

I have a 16 foot Bass tracker deepv and I love it for fishing. You can go out in rough water and the boat is stable. It also rides really smooth with a 40 hp johnson it will go around 25-27 mph depending on who is with me. I would reccommend it if you have kids they will be happy with the deep sides they can walk around and not feel like they are falling out. My boat looks very similar to the lund in size and shape. It may be more of an all around boat beside just fishing for the family.

I've caught bass from an innertube.....a 10' flat bottom alum craft... an 18' center console.... a sailboat...and hanging from a tree..:).....and I'm no expert on bass fishing.

Welcome to iboats!

You will find it noisy compared to fiberglass and it will be a learning curve but works fine for bass fishing ;) Great for kids too! I have a 16' Starcraft which has about the same size sides.

As previously stated, ole bucketmouth can be caught from any vessel. That said, the question is how much and what kind of bass fishing do you envision? If you're planning on day after day of flipping and pitching, pounding the shallows, etc. then the Lund is not the right tool for the job. However, if you foresee a multi-species approach that includes some of that, some trolling, some cranking, some crappie fishing over deep cover, some catfishing, etc., then you'll be happy with it. I strongly recommend a front deck with FCTM for the bass fishing.

My Lund S14 DLX works just fine for me. Keep it on a tilt bed trailer and I get into lakes that the big Bass boats only dream of! It will even go into water that is only 2' deep and has been so far back into the slop that I've had to use a push pole to get out. Guess it's all a matter of preferance.

Oh yeah, I've also pulled this rig with a 4 cyl Ford Ranger just fine.

We use an older 16' Starcraft, deep v and love it, although lit will catch wind a bit. Ours was converted to have a platform on the front and I use that, wife uses the back section and we have been doing well as of late with this setup. A little harder to launch and retrive where we fish than a conventional bass boat but no big deal. The depth and stabliity mean more to us.
