Where are you located Stampede, both Bass Pro and Cabelas won't ship carpet to Canada. I have got bunk carpeting from Bass Pro it was good quality.

I've used the stuff from Cabelas and it's holding up very well.

Re: Bass pro & cabelas carpet.

I have switched to a paint instead of carpet on my fishing boats as the carpet has came lose from the decking in a short time. Dura Coat makes a great rubber granule impregnated poly paint that has lasted many years for me when applied properly and can be repainted or touched up easily. A friend has a boat that he used truck bed liner paint on and it has worked great, and can be bought at most auto supply store. The marine carpet and good outdoor marine grade glue from most suppliers will get the job done, but the time and cost of replacing it when it goes bad should be another consideration if the boat is going to be kept for a longer length of time. I agree with OldMan. Carpet in a Fishing Boat just doesn't make much sense. Blood and Guts and Carpet Are like Oil and Water...They just don't mix. I'd recommend vinyl for your aluminum boat?

I've been thinking about paint myself.Carpet is nice but paint would be easier to clean.I was thinking of a good latex with the grit, like sand you mix in it.Also thought of putting felt trim arount the edge of the plywood.

I agree with paint or vinyl, easier to clean fish goo off of.

If going with carpet, check out Lowes or Home Depot for "marine" carpet. My local stores have an obscure sample book (have to look hard to find it) in the carpet section, and they can order it for you. This isn't the cheap outdoor carpet they have in stock, but real marine carpet that they don't have in stock.
