I recently bought a 2004 pt185 bass tracker with a 04 mercury 75 hp 2 stroke. The problem is that it doesnt have much trim control. I think that the motor is mounted to high on the transom. I leveled the hull and measured down from the bottom(18 in). I then leveled the cavitation plate and measured down from center of prop shaft(11 1/2 in). that gives me a hieght of 6 1/2 inches right? That seems a little high doesnt it. The boat has hardly any bow lift and with little trim it seems to cavitate when i try to trim it out a little. I know I wont be no speed demon with her but I am just trying to get the best out of it as I can. Would a manual jack plate help? The motor could go down only one set of holes from where it is now. By the way I am spinning a 21 pitch aluminum prop. THANKS FOR ANYTHING

Re: bass tracker setup

this might be a better question for the motor forum. those guys are pretty good at answering the sort of thing your asking.
