i am about to start restoring my first boat. i have an 89 bass tracker tf 1600 fiberglass bass boat. i am open to any tips or tricks. the boat is in good shape. only minor problems. it needs new carpet and seats and probably a new wiring job and the paint is faded. it just doesnt shine like i want it too, but as a whole it is a good boat. any suggestions?

What are your goals for this boat? There are lots of threads here on restoring boats and repairing them. Search for things you want to do, and you'll find all sorts of good information.

When you have specific questions about specific jobs, just ask them. Someone will to their best to help.

OK. Getting it back to original condition is going to take a lot of work, time, and more money than you'll imagine. When you get done, it'll be worth just a little more than you paid for it. It's just over 20 years old. Nothing you do is going to change that, I'm afraid.

Few original parts are available from Tracker. They don't want to hear about 20 year old models. If it has glitter paint, a new paint job is very, very expensive if you're trying to duplicate the original look.

Frankly, it probably could be a nice boat to go fishing in. It's not something that's worth a full restoration, though, I think.

I'm just saying...

Does it look like this?

yes it will make a good fishing boat and getting it to that condition is my main goal. i still want it to look good but if it isnt feasible, i probably wont put that much money in it. maybe a good wax job will help. it doesnt look bad. it just doesnt shine like a new one. but thanks for all your in put cat.
