I have a Monterey 250cr. It has a enclosed head with a shower. There is a small window. If you take a shower the entire bathroom gets soaked and damp. I'm thinking of putting and exhaust fan it. Does anyone's boat have exhaust fans in them for moisture and stink? Thoughts.

My 27 Four Winns had one and it was pretty useless. My Carver doesn't have one and I don't miss it. Head areas fog up and get wet when you shower. Open the window and the hatch to dry it out. There's usually a pretty good breeze around on the water.

If you have a smelly head anyway, it's likely you have a problem with the holding tank (not emptying or treating it often enough) or permeated pumpout hose/vent,

yeah but then when you are tied up with others they know to run downstairs or to another boat upwind for a few minutes.

Place the fan if you can ini the bilge away form the inlet point and the noise will be reduced to a normal blower level.

Joe, People know when you run downstairs by the smell when you flush the head and the smell comes out the vent. lol. I've place a charcoal filter on the exit of the head vent and my head does not smell. My old boat (23' wellcraft) had the 3" bilge fan way down stream. The sound traveled down the flexible ducting. It was horribly loud.

If the blower is that noisy it's a pos blower...... In addition if you want quiet buy a bigger blower and run it with a resistor.

a baffle box would also be quite easy to build.

My boat does not have an exhat fan in the head. We stay on the boat for several days at a time showering each day. I have never had an issue with mildew or anyting like that.

My holding tank vent did not have a filter on it when I bought the boat. It was pretty rancid when someone used the head. I put on the below filter and the problem is solved.
