Bats under cowl....

Well, now that my boat has been sitting in the sling for a few days, I pulled the engine cover off and spooked three bats. I noticed inside the hand grip there are three ventilation holes, an obvious point of entry. Can fiberglass insulation, or a open cell foam filter be stuffed in there without impacting induction?

and what kind of boat?

and what kind of vent? are you talking the bilge vents?

pictures are a must

most boats have hundreds of entry points into the bilge. thats why there are people that make covers

my guess is the bats went under the gunwales and simply crawled into the bilge, and didnt go down the bilge vents.

Sorry, it's not the boat, it's the outboard. Evinrude 115. The cowl cover handle grip.

maybe a canvas motor cover for when you are on the lift. or some hardware cloth glued in place.

Not coffin shaped; but maybe they were trying to help me work the "bugs" out?
I like the hardware cloth! That shouldn't restrict ventilation at all. Thanks.

....anything sits in Florida for more than 24 hours starts to rot, mildew, die, or get infested. What an environment!
