Well I sunk my brand new boat, I have had it for only 3 wks and now shes under water. well not all of her, she sitting on the bottom so there is still about 6" of one side of the boat exposed, the whole head unit of the motor is still completely out of the water. we ended up beached one very ruff day, and the waves kept washing water onto the boat faster than the bilge pump could pump it out.. any suggestions on how to unsink this boat.. it's a 17' bass boat with a 115 hp merc outboard on it. every part of the boat is still accesible and it's pretty close to shore, on a fairly shallow man made lake in texas...

Thanks,
Thomas

Thomas, where are you located? I'm in Austin, and have access to some electric pumps/generator (and a flats boat)that might make the job a little easier. Let me know if I can help...

-Kris

Re: Batten down the hatch she going down.

We made a wave break with a tarp onetime it slowed the refill process enough that between the bilge pump and buckets we got enough water out it could float. It took a while though. One thing to try if it has flotation like I think it does is pull the plug. Many swamped boats will float up pushing water out the drain hole when you do this because the flotation makes it float think of it as filling a styrofoam bucket floating on water eventually it gets full and sinks but put a hole in the bottom and the water will have a way to get out of the bucket and it will float.
All this said if you can't get it floating any other way then break out the air pumps and rafts but be sure you pull the plug so that as you lift the boat the water has a place to escape to.

Are ya sunk in lake Corpus Christi (Lake Mathis)? I've got a winch truck with lots of cable, We could winch her out real slow and allow the water to run out as she came up on the mud bank.

Simple, like shovelrocker says, winch it up, but only till both sides surface, and start pumping. Ive had to do it before, luckily MY boat was the one pulling some other guy's ashore :)
Craig

Take out all of the heavy stuff before you get started. Bring your sense of humor along when you try to lift her, take pictures for insurance and stories to be told. Good luck!

Go to a tool rental place and get you one of them gasoline powered water pumps and in no time at all it will be floating again. Them 3" pumps can pump a lot of water fast.
That is the best and safest way to do it.
No winching or anything like that.
