I need some hardware. I'm not sure exactly what kind. Here's the problem I'm looking to solve:
I have two front seats in my bow that originally hinged up to reveal storage compartments. And under the dashboard, my boat has a pair of kick-panels that form walls to those very same compartments.
But all the wood is rotted and needs to be replaced, which means the front seats are no longer attached to their hinges, they're just kind of sitting there. And as for what I'm calling the kick panels, they weren't rotted as bad. But I still had to remove them for some installations. I need to put them back, but I'm also probably going to attach my radio to the left side piece, and probably install a 4x6 speaker in each piece.
Before I go much further, some visual aides are in order:
Bow Seats:
Kick Panels in Place:
Kick Panels Removed:
So the seats are just sitting there. They were attached to a full length hinge that was on the inside-side of the cushions, so they would open up towards the centerline of the boat. That would be OK as a last resort, but I'd rather have some sort of quick release latch (or maybe even some sort of magnetic latches?) that would allow me to quickly remove the seat all together, while keeping it firmly in place when I was out jumping waves in the ocean.
As far as the kick panels... you can't really tell from the pictures but, they had two screw/bolts on their top edge that bolted to the fiberglass that made up the lower back support of the front bow seats. There were no other attachments, they basically just wedged in there. Now I don't plan on taking these out very often. But I'd like to be able to remove them without screwing and unscrewing bolts. And I also want them to have a little more support then they originally had, since I'm going to be putting my radio and speakers on them. And since they are going to have those items on them, I'll probably take them off for the winter and store them indoors, might as well.
So the purpose of this thread, in case it's not clear, is to get some ideas of different hardware options and mounting options for these pieces.
