Batteries interchangeable?

So my battery died and I wanted to use one lying around the shop that tested at 12 volts. Its roughly the same size as my old one. Is it ok to use? my boat is pretty simple with no extra draw from the battery besides the fishfinder. Is it safe?

is it for just the finder? I have a lawn tractor battery for my finder and I have gone all summer on one charge and it still reads 12.3volts.
