Myth:
The old myth about not storing batteries on concrete floors is just that - a myth. This story has been around for 100 years, and originated back when battery cases were made up of wood and asphalt. The acid would leak from them, and form a slow-discharging circuit through the now acid-soaked and conductive floor.

One thing I will add to that is if the battery had any acid on the outside it will etch the concrete floor where it sets. That is why I set my extra batteries on a plastic mat, not to protect the battery, but to protect the floor.

I'm laughing.... I store mine on wood (indoors) and charge them on a maintainer through the winter. I think if I ignored them outside they would be dead by springtime regardless of concrete or wood.

Yeah, I was fed that recipe also when I was younger.....mom and dad missed a few. After getting older and wiser, I could see that there was no mechanism on a currently built battery for it to care what it's sitting on.
