I have replaced the regulator, and powerpack(s). I have tested the stator and it's ok. Just can't figure out why the batteries (brand new) will not charge. No loose magnets in flywheel (internal). Stator magnets are clean. Wires look ok. Reading on voltmeter is 12.4 and batteries are 12.4 when running.
HELP!
Motor is an 87 Evin. 150 hp.

Hi Kenny,
Not sure about this.If your motor is equipped with a rectifier, replace it.Rectifiers are used on Mercury motors, not sure about your Evinrude...

How did you test the stator? Measure AC voltage? Measure resistance? All terminations cleasn and tight? Typically stator AV voltage feed to rectifier/regulator should be ~ 20 VAC. If you have that and no DC output from rectifier/regulator, rectifier needs to be replaced.

Power pack has nothing to do with the charging system, only ignition.

Regulator was just replaced, it is brand new.
I will check the AC voltage from stator though thanks.

If this old problem, or new problem after magnets in flywheel reglued, some of the magnets may be in backwards. The leading edge of the magnets has a notch, should be able to see without removine flywheel.

There are no magnets that you can see on the flywheel, they must be inside of it.

I don't have a shop manual for your motor (you need to get one for this level diagnosis), so I would only be guessing. Maybe someone can help?
