Hi guys and gals,

I bought an inflatable boat and I'm going to put a Minn Kota Endura Trolling Motor (30 Pounds Thrust). This is my first time boating. I would like to know what is the best battery that is small to medium size and has good durability when running the motor.

I'm going to use the boat for fishing. I'm looking at an Optima D34M marine battery(starter and deep cycle). Is this a good battery for the operation I'm going to be doing? Any suggestions are helpful.

Re: Batteries

You should be looking at Deep Cycle batteries. Dual Purpose batteries are just that. They work for starting and deep cycle use but it is debatable whether they perform both functions as well as dedicated starting or deep cycles. If your inflatable also has an electric start engine, then yes, you have the right battery.
