I'm wanting to hook up the battery cables for this motor for the first time and want to confirm where the + and - ends connect to the starter. What I'm seeing in the manual is not quite the same picture as what I'm looking at on the motor.
Looking from the starboard side:
The top of the starter has a silver band with one nut. A heavy black cable runs from this nut to the nut that secures the starter in place so am assuming this is a ground.
There is a silver band at the bottom end of the starter with a nut - there is nothing connected to this one.
Below the band and looks like a bottom plate of some kind with two nuts - one on each side. The Left side nut has a red wire running to it but I can't see where it is coming from. According to my manual, there should be a red wire from the regulator to a "solenoid" but this part doesn't look like a solenoid (but perhaps it is). The nut on the Right Hand Side has nothing connected to it. I'm guessing that this is where the -ve battery cable goes.
Does the +ve battery cable go to the same nut as the red wire goes to?
