I need to replace the battery cables on my new to me boat.

The boat is 2 hours away and I want to get all the materials needed to take with me when I get back to the beach.

I did a search here and the service manual has no info on what gauge wire is required.

I know larger is usually better, but I only have limted electronics (GPS, Fishfinder, stereo) so I see no need to go overkill here.

What gauge wire do I need?

Battery cables power the starter and must be large enough for it. The FF and accessories use so little current they have no beaing on battery cable gauge. A lot of folks use 4ga cable. Obviously 2ga is better. Are you using it in saltwater? if so, get marine cables.

Is the "stock" cable 4ga? or 2ga?

I have had some poor luck guessing sizes on things lately.....
I want to avoid any issues getting the cables clamped into the bushing on the motor cowling.
