I recently purchased a 1992 electric start 25hp Johnson model J25teend. Does this motor have a charging circuit for the battery or must I charge the battery separately.

Re: Battery Charging Circuit for Johnson Motor

It has a charging circuit. Just be sure to get a 'marine' battery. Some folk will tell you the only difference is the price. Well, after you've been covered in acid from an exploded non-marine battery you'll know there is a difference. Some of the smaller and older engines didn't bother with a regulator, just threw whatever was coming out the charger into the battery! I have seen the voltage top 17 volts. Try charging a non-marine battery or a sealed battery with that!

Chris...........
