Battery charging issue

Hi Guys,
Last season I DID put the wrong terminals onto the battery(very very briefly).
Now I,m not getting anything back to charge the battery.
Have just tested the rectifier eg:yellows to red & reverse, yellows to ground & reverse.
All the readings are as they should be, in that I,m getting readings one way & not the other.
I,m guessing the only other place to look would be the coil, & if so can I test it without having to pop the flywheel off
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, DAVY

Re: Battery charging issue

Ordinarily I would say that you blew the rectifier. It is impossible to disconnect it quick enough to prevent it. However, you say it tests ok. Hm.m.m.m., I seriously doubt that you blew the alternator coils. All it takes to check them is a continuity test between the yellow leads (should be very low resistance) and yellow to ground (shoud be no continuity to ground).

That model # looks funny. I'll have to check that.

Re: Battery charging issue

Reverse polarity, even for a micro second, blows the rectifier, replace it.

Is this a small isolated type rectifier or a water cooled regulator/rectifer assembly. Is that model number correct?

Did you test between Red and Yellows, then reverse? Reverse polarity would not affect anything other than the rectifier.
