Battery Charging Procedure

I just purchased a boat with a mrec 120 with two batteries connected through a battery selector switch. Can someone please explain the correct way to charge the batteries using a battery charger. The charger I have is an older sears charger. I am afraid of damaging the electronic components in the motor. I think the selector switch has an off position. Would it be better to disconnect the batteries from the motor while charging? Do I have to remove the cables from the batteries. Does the switch in the off position isolate each battery or are the batteries still tied together. Thanx

Re: Battery Charging Procedure

If the switch is in the off position, the batteries are isolated from each other and the motor. You can simply put the charger clamps on the terminals of the batteries and charge then one at a time without disconnecting anything. That is what the switch is for, to eliminate having to physically disconnect the battery for whatever reason.
