hey all
so my battery charger crapped out on me and the stores don't have the one I want. so my question is, can I charge a deep cycle battery on the agm selection of the charger. my secondary charger only has standard and agm choices on it
thanks for any input.

I would wager most marine deep cycle batteries are AGM. The two in my boat certainly are. What type of battery are you trying to charge?

The Everstart Maxx is an SLA (sealed lead acid) battery, not an AGM. AGM charge rates and profiles should not be used to charge an SLA battery.

The "standard" setting on your charger is for SLA's, whether they are starting batteries or deep cycle batteries.

Ongoing debate. AGM is still lead acid construction and the charging profile is essentially the same as that of a flooded battery. My Lifeline AGM's are going into their 5th season with my 1992 Charles 'dumb' battery charger. Once or twice a year I use a portable smart charger to desulfate them, but otherwise they get no special attention.

Gel cell batteries, n the other hand, ARE different and require special charging profiles.

If you are regularly recharging your batteries then it might make sense to just get a dedicated mounted charger. Prosport 8 is the one I have in my boat, dual channel and you can set them for battery type.

Do you have a 2 amp setting? Deepcycles are usually charged at a slow rate....
