I have a battery in the boat with 850 mca and 105 min discharge. I have an extra battery (from last boat) with 660 mca and 140 min discharge....

Current boat 96 with 5.7lx last boat 89 305.

Was thinking would rather have the discharge time for when anchorred hanging out with radio on (radio has addl amp)

Would you give up cranking amps for discharge time?

Re: battery comparison question

That extra bat will work fine to power your radio for a bit. You typically want a deep cycle for good saturation and long discharge times for running accessories like that, but if you already have it...use it. When it dies, use it as a core for a nice new Deep cycle.

Re: battery comparison question

Was asking do should I keep the current in it or use the extra I have in the garage (have kept proper maintainence on it)

Or do I add it as a second with a switch? Have used dual batteries before and loved the extra security. Not sure if I want to add the extra weight (but I would add to opposite side for balance towards transom)

Re: battery comparison question

Second with a switch for sure. Or you will be carrying a jumper box with you for the just-in-case. Sorry, I misunderstood the question the first time.
