I have a 2000 celebrity 250HP alpha 1 gen2. After ten days of sitting the battery goes dead. I have had the alternator and battery both checked and they are fine. I cannot figure out the source of drain. There is a small analog clock that runs. Any ideas? thanks

sitting in the water? Maybe the bilge pump is cycling. Any leaks?

boat is sitting on a trailer. no water in bilge. I have replaced the battery even though it checked out good. I am now watching the old battery to see if it loses charge.

skicat, check the amprage draw with a DC multi meter to see if there is an amp/ma draw at the the batt. and work from there . could even be wet wires in the bilge. good luck hope you find the drain on the batt.

Its really pretty easy to find the problem. Get our your meter, set it to amps x 10 or so and then disconnect the positive lead to your battery. Put your meter inbetween the positve battery cable and the battery terminal. You should get some reading. That is your leakage. Now, with the meter still connected go up to your fuse box and start removing the fuses one at a time. When the needle on the meter drops to zero as you pull out a fuse you have found your problem. Whatever that fuse goes to is the problem. Just check the wires for breakes or corrosion and then the device to see if it has become defective. You can almost always find those slow electrical leaks this way.

Thom
