battery for audio

I have a small 16' runabout with 90hp mariner. I am planning on putting in a cd player with 2 smaller speakers, just to have some music.

I only have 1 standard marine staring battery. My question is now if that would be enough to power the boat and the stereo?

If not, could I just put an extra battery in and connect the 2 batteries together?

Thanks

Re: battery for audio

I have run a stereo and boat from the same battery for a long time and I do today but I also have been sitting on the lake for hours wondering if someone had jumper cables, so I would do the second battery but put a cut off switch between the two so that you can isolate it from the starting battery when the motor is not running.

Re: battery for audio

My pontoon runs the stereo, engine, live well pump, cell phone charger and lights for hours without a problem. Obviously the larger the battery (Ampp/Hour rating) the longer the run time will be. On your boat you simply don't have an issue. If you are worried about starting, carry a small jump start unit.
