would a lawn mower battery work for starting a 25hp motor? I already have two batteries in my boat and they are located towards the middle of the boat. It would be a huge hassle to run thick enough wires through the way I have the boat setup.

I was just wondering if a small lawn mower or motorcycle battery would work to start a 25hp motor.

thanks

Re: Battery for starting 25hp motor

An Odyssey pc-625 will work great. It's 7" x 7" x 4" completely sealed. Can be mounted on it's side. I've started 100HP Outboard motors with one of these.

The 625 is for 625 cranking amps for 5 seconds. About $100 bucks and last a LONG time and can take a pounding.

They do not lose any appreciable charge when sitting (unlike a conventional battery).

It's used primarily in jet ski's and ALL applications of Yamaha Waverunners - think 170+ HP.
