So, I have an '89 22' cuddy cabin with a 5.7lt......i want to add a second battery for accesories but am unsure of the size i should get...i have just a radio, air pump for the tube and at light or two if i use it at night....so what i was thinking of just getting the same size as what i have but thought i would ask for feedback first. Thanks in advance

Thinking the same. Check the amps of your alternator. If its a GM it will be stamped on there. You could go to Walmart and get one of those small utility batteries they use on the lawn tractors for about 30 bucks and just plug into cigarette lighter for charging. I have a high powered stereo system that really sucks the juice, and my 85 Force does not have the amps to charge two batteries let alone one.

Re: Battery help

That is most likely at least an 80 amp alternator. Plenty for a second battery!

Get whatever size battery is cheapest. For your use, you will want a deep cycle. A standard battery won't last long for that type of usage. You will also want either a battery selector, or better yet, a charge controller.

Re: Battery help

Yes, I would match the first battery in size, etc. You going with the Perko switch that lets you select either battery or both for your source?
