I have two questions. For battery isolation switch purposes can/are two batteries wired in series to give 24v to a trolling motor considered as being 1 battery?

Should there a starting battery and a house battery (to run bilge pumps, etc.) or will one battery suffice for both?

Thanks in advance

Don't know what boat, but assuming its a fishing type

You can wire Bats in series and use one switch for it

Have one other starting Bat for house and start

In my boats I have always had a dedicated starting battery, that is all it is used for. Then I have a deep cycle battery as a house battery. Depending on how much battery power you use will determine the size battery you need for a house battery. You can wire in a battery switch so either battery can be charged from the motor. It can take a long boat ride to fully charge a low deep cycle battery, and deep cycle batteries normally do better when charged more quickly from a dedicated charger designed for deep cycle batteries rather than an alternator on a motor. Knowing what you are working with might be more helpfull....
