I have a Exide dual purpose battery that came with my boat. When I charge it with my fancy charger that displays the % of charge and volts etc. It gets full then the next day it will only read 65% charged even though its just bee sitting in my basement.

When we run it in the boat with a 200w stereo and amplifier 180w it will start to cut out after about 30 mins and the volume will have to be turned down.

Do I need a new battery or is there anything I can do to help this one out?

BTW I did get all the wires to have a dual battery system this year with a switch.

THanks

Let's see - we have a high power music system operating on a battery that loses 35% of its charge doing nothing. You need the largest deep cycle battery you have room for -- just for the music system and accessories. Use a marine starting battery for the engine. Or buy the largest marine dual purpose battery you have room for and a jump start pack just in case you do tunes longer than you think and the engine now has no juice to draw from.
