Battery overcharging or not?

Unregulated charging system mercury inline6 1500 volts reading 16+ at wot new rectifier is this fine i search all over have seen this discussion no real awnser given when at idle it drops down to arund 12

That's normal. The battery is supposed to be the voltage regulator. Mine was that way and I didn't like it. So I got a rectifier/regulator from a newer merc and put that in instead. I was worried about my electronics at 16v, Spent a lot of money on them, radar, downrigger temp and speed. Hummer 998, etc. Piece of mind. Yours is working properly though.

I feel the same thats my consern ty for the best awnser i have seen ill just upgrade i seen cdi site list s an upgrade for my motor with regulater

I was not able to find one that mounted in the same location. I had to extend wires and jury rig the mounting location. Make sure it has a good heat sink where you mount it.
