Battery Question

I have my first 24v trolling motor set up. Can I just charge one of the batteries and it will feed the charge into the other? Who makes a good on board charger for his application? Where is a good place to buy from? I have always just used a regular battery charger but think I may go with the on board approach? My guess is wait to the end of boating season to find my best deal...

Re: Battery Question

look in bass pro shop they have on board charges at a resonable price ive had one for 5 years no problem. Get the 2 bank type and hook one to each battery they work on both 12&24 volt.

Re: Battery Question

No - putting a charger on one battery in a SERIES (24 volt) setup will not charge the second battery. Doing that in a PARALLEL setup (still 12 volts) will charge both batteries but it will take twice as long to charge as it would a single battery. Any store that sells boating supplies generally has on-board smart chargers in one, two, three and even four bank versions.

Here are the two wiring schemes. Are you sure you have a 24 system. Many people confuse this.
