Hi guys. I am wanting to throw a small stereo unit in my Alweld 1652 jet boat. Just a bluetooth receiver and two small speakers. Right now I have a 12V deep cycle battery up front for the trolling motor, and a 12V cranking battery in the rear. I don't really want to add another battery as I am trying to keep the boat as light as possible. Which battery would you run it off of? Would a small stereo like that significantly drain a single 12v battery? Only other component currently is my graph, which I have going back to my engine battery. I have a four switch panel I plan on installing, also may include a 12v socket to charge phones and such. Thanks in advance for the help!

Just run it off the trolling motor. If you wind up draining the battery to soon (which I doubt will happen) you can crank up and get back home.

Thanks AllDodge, that sounds like a good option. Best setup would be to add another 12V deep cycle I assume. If I am running the trolling motor all day, it can be close to dead by day end. Guess I can't get away from just wiring it right the first time! Either you kill troller, or kill cranking first, pick your poison right!! :) Thanks again

Actually I was figuring it wouldn't draw much juice. So if you find it doesn't you could put it on the starter bat, just don't want to start there unless you know for sure.

Radio won't draw much current. But if you forget to shut it off it will draw your starting battery dead in a day or two. Best bet to wire to your deep cycle. 10 amp fuse. I have a cigarette lighter receptacle wired to my deep cycle. The I can use for phone chargers, spotlights , electric knife etc.
