Battery size

This may be real silly and I'm sure I will likely get the "Get the biggest you can afford" but I'm asking on rather a learning level here.

If my starter is rated for 375A Does that mean that when the starter/engine/battery/etc were all new and in peak working order that a battery with 375CCA could theoretically get your boat started?

Thanks

Re: Battery size

What engine do you have. There is more to what size battery than just how much amperage the starter can pull.

Re: Battery size

I have a 1989 Mercruiser 3.0 with the alpha one. I was rather deciding between a 675 and an 845 . I figured for $15 get the 845 but then my head went to wondering if the starter amp to battery cca was at least a theoretical minimum for starting purposes.

Re: Battery size

The 375CCA battery is bare MINIMUM for a 3.0L engine (no accessories) for starting. Note I said minimum. There is no maximum.
