Looking for a neat way to bring battery power (below deck), through the cockpit fiberglass to my outboard on my Hunter 23.5 sailboat. A topside waterproof, disconnect feature would be desirable. I once saw a neat hookup on a Catalina 27, but can find no products, connector , boots, etc., for sale to accomplish this.

...or do you just have an electic start outboard you want to start with the batteries below the deck?

Both, electric start with battery below deck, and to charge same battery.

you may have to get creative and find a connector like this with a DC rateing for the amount of amps you need

i havent seen on that unplugs just ones done like a standard outboard

i would post your brand of outboard in the correct forum and look into the possabilty of a bad connection in the plug causeing damage to the chargeing system

tommays

If the plug disconnects, while the engine is running, The charging system WILL be damaged, that is why a locking connector is necessary, so I am still looking.

Casperc, when I was in the military we used cannon plugs to plug electrical components togeather that we didn't want to accedently unplug. They looked kind of like above picture but on the outside there were threads and one screwed into the other.(terminals didn't rotate, just the outside metal sheiving) I hope you get my idea right.
