1990 Carver Santego. Twin 4.3's 2 batteries.
Any idea what the switch to the left with the light below it does?
Yet to figure this one out.

Thank YouIMAG0485.jpg

Re: Battery toggle Switch

Probably the MASTER for the house portion of the electrical system. With the switch on the left in the down position, what "doesn't work"? Then turn it on and see what does work. If nothing works with it down, that is indeed a master power switch. It merely kills the main power feed to the helm. One switch shuts everything off. The BAT 1 and BAT 2 switch may be one of two things. A) Your boat may have a single "Voltmeter" on the helm. This switch may be a selector so the Voltmeter can read either battery depending on which is selected. B) It may be switch that selects which battery is powering the boat. If this is the case then there is other circuitry involved since that switch cannot possibly handle the current for the starter. I highly doubt that switch is for a dual battery switch. My guess it is the Voltmeter battery selector.

Definitely the battery 1 and 2 switch is a voltmeter, and is giving an accurate reading. The lighted switch does not seem to "cut" anything, but I like your reply. I'm going to go through other systems tomorrow and try to figure it out. Just a bit of a mystery since it isn't labeled, just a power light indicating its on.

I have the owners manual, and it isn't referred to in there either.

Nobody will be able to answer this without being in your boat ... That switch is NOT factory... If it were it would be parallel with the other one, the red light would be parallel with it, and it would be labeled.... Your choices are keep playing with it till you notice something turning on and off or start pulling stuff apart and see where the wire goes.
