Hey guys,

I was curious of a good place to get a battery tray for my trailer. I picked up a boat and trailer and it has an electric winch which I would like to use but its just a bare red/black wire. Rather than wire it to my car i have a deep cycle marine battery I would like to use. I would like to mount it on the opposite side of the winch or perhaps move the trailer jack forward and turn the battery sideways.

Generally, just get the black plastic battery box from Wal Mart....

You can get a lockable metal storage box appropriate size but you would have to drill it for ventilation. All batteries need ventilation.

Agree ^^
Could use an AGM battery and then it wouldn't need ventilation, but do think that sooner or later someone will like you battery more then you. I would suggest running cables from your battery back with a quick connector. This way you don't need to make sure the battery is charged or other maintenance.

If this isn't a big boat might just replace the winch with a hand crank. Some times folks that have less strength install the electric winch to help them out

I have a hand crank which can be used to manually turn the winch. The boat is not heavy its a 1050 lb fiberglass Larson flyer 166 but I would still like to use the winch since its mounted there. I already have the minnkota trolling power center box with a battery inside it I just have to figure out how to mount it to the trailer on a tray with a bracket hopefully
