battery type

1973 85hp Johnson model 85esl73b on a 16 ft tri hull..with normal lighting ..and a couple info gages ..adding a trolling motor as well ..what size battery would I need to power all this and still not dye in the water..there no battery to match up...thank you

You need two batteries not just one. The trolling motor will drain your battery a little at a time and your motor will not be able to charge it back up in short periods. I would suggest at least a 500CCA for the engine and lights and such, and a 800CCA deep cycle for the trolling motor. Bigger batteries are always better

For the trolling motor you are so not much interested in CCA ( cold cranking amps) as you are in Ah ( amp hours) capacity. The biggest Ah capacity deepcycle or traction battery that you can sensibly fit will be the best choice for the trolling motor.

But remember any battery should be recharged as soon as possible after use
