Battery Voltage Guage Not Working

I bought a 1989 17' bowrider with 3.7 Merc 180hp i/o this spring to get started in boating.

I am getting no reading on this gauge, planning to buy multimeter tomorrow.

That would be a good idea! Check the connections on the back side of the volt meter for tightness and corrosion..
