I have a 1978 Johnson:

I have three wires going to my positive battery terminal. I know that the thick one is for power, but there are two thin wires a yellow and red. The red has a fuse on it. Does anybody know the details of these two wires ? Thanks for the help.

Re: Battery Wires

Chances are the red one supplies power to a fuse panel for the accessories. Yellow one is probably the power for something that was added on. It should have a fuse also.

Re: Battery Wires

An easy way to check is to disconnect one wire at at time and then turn on stuff in your boat and see what no longer works.

In my boat, I have extra wires going to the battery also for things such as lights and bilge pump.
