I have a 1991 inboard fish and ski. I am curious what kind of batteries are good, for a good value? How many batteries should I use and how should it be devided up? Should I keep an extra battery on board just incase?

Re: Battery

All you need is one starting battery group 24 or bigger.
Costco or Walmart.
The real answer is need a lot more information from you.
A 1991 inboard or inboard outboard will likely have a alternator around 60 amps but at least 30 amps. If all it has to do is start the boat then a group 24 starting battery is all you need.
If you have more load then you need to tell what loads you have.

For the money Wlmart is tough to beat. They changed there warranty policy, so keep your reciept. They will not go off the punched sticker any longer. A 27 series is $70. Thats cheap.

Re: Battery

only need the one battery unless you have a trolling motor in which case it's best to run 2 separte or have a 4 way switch [off, 1, both, 2] so incase you run out one battery trolling all day you can start er' up with the 2nd. as for battery size, bigger is better, if it fits in the space provided.
