Hello everybody,
I just bought a new boat and had the windlass installed by the dealer.
Since day one....had nothing but problems. In current, no current, some current...the windlass keeps locking up when trying to pull the anchor up. Also, the anchor does not easily slid off the bow pulpit...somebody always has to get to the bow to give it a little push. I think the windlass isn?t strong enough??? or is it that cheap rope was used and that?s why the rope gets stuck in the windlass all the time...and when I say all the time, I?m not kidding.
I feel like I wasted $1500 on a windlass that gives me nothing but trouble. The dealer swears up and down that the windlass is plenty strong for my boat...that maybe I need to replace the rope with a better quality rope????
What should I do? Anybody else have problems with their windlass like me? Shouldn?t the windlass have enough power to pull the boat in without motoring the boat up to the anchor???
