I am having a hard time choosing a bimini height for my boat. It's a 2003 Bayliner 175BR and currently does not have one. I've been reading through the various posts on the topics, but it's usually directed at heights for fishing, which isn't something I typically do. We use the boat every weekend (myself, my wife, and 2 year and 4 year old girls). So i guess I want to be able to stand, but it's really for sun cover. I've seen 30" 36" and 46". Anyone have suggestions or preferences for these different heights?

Re: Bayliner Bimini

I dont know that I would even buy one if I had it to do over again. We only used it 1 time all last season and that was on one of the hottest days of the year and we stopped cruising to eat lunch right smack in the middle of the lake, no shade. Im not sure how tall mine is but its the "stock" size, im 6'2 and can stand under it. For as little as I use it I would rather not have those plastic stands drilled into rail. I have a 2010 bayliner 175.

Re: Bayliner Bimini

You want it just a couple inches higher than your head when you stand.

Measure the distance from the deck to the gunwale (where you will mount the bimini).

That distance plus the height of the bimini you buy equals the total height.

Just make sure that the height of your gunwale plus the height of the frame exceeds your height by a smidge so you don't bump your noggin;)
