Are these boat's equipped with the standard V8 5.0 litre engine or was the V6 an alternative option?

Well, according to NADA the base engine was 220hp. And 220hp has been a rating for the 5.0V8 for quite a long time. I don't think Mercruiser called a 4.3V6 220hp in 1999, but I could be wrong.

There is a 1998 model 2050 in FL that definately has a 4.3 in it. But it just says it's a Capri, not a Capri SS. But in Littleton, NC there is a 1998 2050SS that says it has a 4.3.

So I guess it could be either. You'll have to see the boat to know for sure.

The boat had the V8 option originally but was, I think anyway, defective so a new Mercruiser V6 190 HP was installed.

Thanks for the input,

Re: Bayliner Capri 2050 SS 1999 Engine

sounds a little fishy. Is the 4.3 carbed(190hp) or MPI(220hp)?

The 4.3 could be the original engine. If you post the serial number from the engine there members who can look it up and tell you the history of the engine.
