My 96 Bayliner Capri 1850 40th anniversary came with the bimini cover stored on top of the engine below the lift up panel. Is this normal? I'm a little reluctant to run the boat with the cover so close to teh engine for heat and fire purposes?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Re: Bayliner Capri Bimini Cover

is it a bimini or the factory soft top?
if my memory serves me correctly. i got two buddys that have their oem soft tops stored under the engine cover, though i don't think the rest on the engine while stored there. i've never looked too close. i got the feeling they were made to be stored there. out of the way, out of sight. the clean look compared to the old days when ya just folded them down and set them on top of the boat. cluttery and in the way..

engines in boats don't run as hot as cars either. 140-180 depending on the cooling system.

if it concerns you, you can always remove it from the boat. then of course, ya won't have it available when ya want it out at the lake.. or the opposite. have the top up all the time. that's the way mine is. but mines a hardtop.. ;)
