Hi

I have a bayliner cuddy 19 footer with a rain water leak in the bow.
The boat sits in the drive way during the summer with the stern and bow about equal in height due to the slope of the driveway.
Water seems to enter somewhere on the boat usually after a rain and get into the bow of the boat .
The area just ahead of the cushions gets fully flooded . I can't seem to find were the leak is. I tried siliconing near the bow naviagation lights but this does not help much .

Any one else have this problem and a fix ?

Thanks

Re: bayliner cuddy bow leak

Cannot suggest a source for the leak. It is possible the source of the rainwater leak is also letting water between the glass skins of the hull and slowly saturating the core material. For that reason, I suggest keeping the boat covered with a tarp until you know that is not the case.

Slope of the driveway is no longer an acceptable excuse…not since all those plastic milk crates started showing up along side the hiways. They come in different colors to match the décor of your abode. :)

Yes, a lot of other people also had a similar problem. They had ‘Sea Ray’ written on the side of their boats. Last I read Sea Ray couldn’t figure it out but was looking at their mfg process, which implies not an easy fix.

Water has a funny way of getting to places from other places far away. All you can do is seal it all. Try your rubrail, as they get a lot of water collected on them. Also, bow rail, and a very important spot is the screws under that snap in plastic at the bottom of your windshield.

rabbit I love the milk crate ref and true about the pitch. My driveway slops down hard at the front of the boat so I built a milk creat on steroids. Not pretty but neither is water getting in your boat.

Crawl inside,+ have somebody spray different areas with a hose to find your leak....
Then Fix It.......... ;)

Re: bayliner cuddy bow leak

if its leaking that bad, its probably the rubrail. best way to fix is to remove, repair any probs, and rebed.

stantion bases also leak very often. if you have a bowrail and it wiggles around, more than likely the stantion bases are taking in some water.

one other area could be any deck hatch you may have.

as Bondo stated earlier, running a hose over it while checking inside may very well reveal your prob..

we've had a rash of new leaking Renken express cruisers in the yard the last couple years, inproperly installed rubrail from the factory..

Buy or have made a full boat cover. Other than oil changes it's about the best money you'll ever spend on your boat. Even if you do find and fix this leak, another will eventually start. The sun does its own damage, too.
