alright...I NEED HELP!

i cleaned all the connections and charged the batttery and viola...it works! so the starter is good to go.

so heres my problem... i pulled the carberator off and and cleaned it ...the right way. checked all the fuel lines and checked the fuel pump. also i removed the intake manifold and cleaned it out. all the plugs are good and im ready to go...right??? WRONG it wont start.

im not sure if i put the wires back right on the ignition switch and coil. on the ignition switch are three connections...B I S. also three wires...red white/red stripe purple. which wire goes with which connector?

on the coil are two connections + 15 - 1 and two wires purple and one with two wires purple and white. which wire goes on which connector?

i thought i had it right but i figured out that there is no fire at the distributor. it could be a bad coil or a bad cable but i dont know how to test it and im not sure i have the wires in the right spot.

thanks in advance.

ps... theres more at the end of this thread

I did an advanced search and came up with these links.

There's also and "adults only" thread that gives you the troubleshooting steps for not starting.

At the very least, you'll be able to narrow down components and get closer to "making fire" :D

If you take the wires off the coil, one will have 12V on it with the key in the on position. One will have 12V while cranking. These go on the positive terminal.

There should be one wire that goes to the distributor...that goes on the minus and the remaining one is more than likely the tach and that goes on the minus.
