I just bought my first boat. It's a '75 Bayliner 2550 Saratoga Hardtop AQ200B. It has the 350 Chevy/280 Volvo package. The previous owner let the engine freeze/crack. He replaced it with a short block but, didn't retain the ID tag on the front of the old engine. The problem is parts outlets want the engine ID, period. I talked to Volvo and they told me this engine package was put in this boat in '74, '75 and '76 but could give me no information regarding ID numbers. The 280 outdrive has the ID tag on it but Volvo says there is no way to cross reference this number to the engine ID. Would it be reasonable for an owner of this same boat, year, engine package to share their engine ID number with me so I can buy parts? Any other suggestions as to buying parts for this engine? Volvo gave me the numbers of several parts outlets they recommend and all require the ID number.

Re: Bayliner Engine ID

I think you should change your direction on where you want to buy parts. With the exception of a very few items that need to be marinized most of the parts for that motor can be bought from any automotive store.
What parts are you looking for???
