Welcome,
This topic has probably been thrashed around quite a bit already, but here goes,
I live in New Zealand, and am just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Foveaux Straight, (a mighty fierce bit of water at times)
I have just bought what i thought was a quality piece of boat (Baliner Capri - Cuddy 19.5 Foot), Looked good, felt solid, for about US$ 7,000, NZ$ 15,500
I already knew the motor (89 Force 125 Hp) was built without the "extras" like oil injection and computer control, but i thought this would be a good thing, (less to go wrong!), and i was told that they are "good, solid, plain, motors"

After finding this board, big thanks to those of you who have helped already
, i am now worried i might have been mis-lead, what with comments like "Bayliner Budget" and "Force F**king Old Recycled Chrysler Engine".

I still like my boat, but what is the worst i could expect from this combo, its 12 years old now (mainly freshwater) and i want at least another 5 years (mainly saltwater) out of her yet?

Is this realistic ?
How bad can Saltwater be? i wash the motor out with muffs, and wash the boat and trailer after every use.
How long should you spend running the motor with the muffs on? i spend about 3 minutes

I know you guys know whats going on, on the water and i'm hoping you can share these times with me!

Brad
