Bayliner prop

Hello, I recently purchased a 2007 bayliner 192 discovery ( cuddy cabin) with a 4.3 mercruiser with an Alpha drive. This boat has a chewed up quicksilver prop on it and the prop numbers are poorly stamped, illegible. Can anyone tell me what size prop came on this boat and /or a decent pulling /speed prop? And are all the mounting hubs the same or specific for mercury?
Thanks,

Welcome to Iboats,

Is the current prop making the motor to run at least middle to max wot rpm range as usually loaded ?

Happy Boating

It also depends what gear ratio you have. The spectrum ranges from 19p to 23p. 3 or 4 blade. Aluminum to ss. All makes a difference. I have a 14x19 4blade aluminum on my 1990 4.3. I run alone at around 40mph and 4500rpm wot. I have a 1.98 ratio in my outdrive, the boat came with a 3 blade ss 23pitch. Don't know how it would perform since it was pretty dinged up.

This boat is new to me, I have not had it in the water yet. The numbers on the prop make it look to be a 23 pitch but it’s a swag. The diaper best guess is about 13”

I’ll have to try to find the gear ratio. And do all mercruiser props have or take the same hub?

The gear ratio should be located on the Branding Label on the Upper Gear Housing

All Mercruisers use the same Spline, If it is a Fixed Rubber Hub Mercury/Quicksilver Prop it will fit, If it is a Prop with a Flow Torx Hub then you will need the Proper Hub Kit.

Mercury Props usually have an easy to read Part # on the Hub. However malicious use of a Rattle Can can eliminate that

I can confidently say that 23” is too much. Unless the drive has been replaced with one with a low ratio than standard.
a friend had one of these and ran a 19”. No idea about speed or rpm but it went well enough and came from new like this. Same engine and an alpha.

Absolutely unless drive has been changed for steeper ratio no bigger than a 19” pitch
