I'm looking to purchase a 1996 Bayliner Rondivou with a catanaran style hull. I was told they're natorous for nosing down after wakes. What size wakes are we talking about? Could this sink the boat in choppy seas? Thanks for the help

Since they are nothing more than a "pontoon" boat there's a lot of room up front and that's where everyone seems to want to sit. So you put a lot of bodies in the bow and go through a wake - hell yea' it's gonna' submarine on you.
That boat is just as safe as any other vessel with that configuration. You just need to realize the weight thing and you should be good to go.
There are a million of other things to be aware of so if you are a new boater I strongly suggest that you take a safe boating course. Just contact your local USCG or Auxilliary and they can set you up. :D:D

First, you didn't say where you boat. It could make a difference.

Having said that, on our lake, there are a number of those Bayliners still going strong. As was said before, ya gotta keep the nose up in large wakes/waves.

Re: Bayliner Rondivou

Thank for responding to my question, and to answer yours I do my boating in the rivers and the gulf side of S.W. Florida. I never boated in more the 2 ft chop, but this guy was saying he and his daughter were sea testing a Rondivou when he nosed down in a wake and nearly sank the boat. Because it was he and his daughter it didn't sound like it was a wake issue but more a flaw in the hull design. So I was wondering if this was a common issue with the Rondivous?
