I'm a new boater and need some help with a project boat.
Looking for websites to get info on a 1979 Bayliner Saratoga for specs / parts etc. Has an older Volvo 280 outdrive / engine.
Also, Looking for a davit system off the back to hold a 10' inflatable. It only has a short teak dive platform on each side (not over outdrive).
Any help would be great.

Re: Bayliner Saratoga questions

Wow, tons of information here. That Bayliner forum is great. Could also use some help looking for used Volvo 280 outdrive lower unit (Skeg broken)

I also found some good info on a dinghy sling davit system. Has anyone tried this system out from Harbormen marine? looks like it might for me.

how bad is the skeg broken, some can be repaired, or a skeg guard to replace.

Re: Bayliner Saratoga questions

Regarding the Dingy sling, Martinique a frequent poster on this forum, has one and recommend it to me. I just received one but will not get to use it until May up here in Maine. He indicated it held his dinghy firmly in place at 40 miles an hour in a chop. It looks like a cargo net with floats and comes in a very easily storable nylon bag with dimension of about 15" x 8". Weighs only a couple of pounds. I think I paid about $235.00 for it compared to close to $800.00 to over a $1,000.00 on other sytems I looked at. At that price if I like it I am way ahead. If I don't I'm only out the price of a good meal and night on the town with my wife.

Good luck.
