Hello All- New to the forum here. I searched and found that RubberFrog had similar symptons.

I have a Bayliner Capri 2150 (1989) w/ OMC 5.8L Cobra. We took it out and it ran great for 10 mins or so and then just stopped suddenly. We were able to start it back up and it ran 1-2 mins and again just stopped. Then we tried to start it and it was a very slow cranking with no start. Tried again and got the solenoid click happening.

When we got home, we muffed it in the driveway and it started right up and ran just fine. We turned it off and restarted it about 7 times and every time was a go.

At rest, the Battery had 12.3 volts across it ... this voltage did not change while the engine was running ....maybe a bad alternator (but that would not explain the engine shutting down so suddenly.

Any thoughts or recs very much appreciated.

RubberFrog - how can your upper unit be shot/seizing up if it runs fine in your driveway?

Thanks

So is the stupid human trick here the fact that you have a Bayliner or what???

Moderator needs to move this post to the right location or ask in the appropriate forum subject.

Believe me, you are jsut setting yourself up by having a Bayline question under here.

12.3v isn't enough voltage, basically a dead battery. Your battery should be reading about 12.6 or 12.7v with no load. Get some new batts. and put them into a different brand of boat. :D :D
Just kiddin', I couldn't resist.

Nooo.... (looks wisely at redline)

The problem IS that you appear to have rubberfrog unbolting your upper unit while you're out...but he hasn't found your house yet. Just worry when you see webbed footprints that smell of latex coming up your drive...

:D
